The spiritual quality of grace

This week at our midweek prayer meeting, beginning tonight at 6 pm, we continue our “taking account of lasting values and spiritual qualities that animate everyone and make for human progress” by exploring the spiritual quality of Grace.

Note:  Two different topics will appear over the next two weeks (the first two weeks of July). The exploration of the “lasting values and spiritual qualities that animate everyone” theme will resume on July 19th with the lasting value of Justice.

The Spiritual Quality of Goodness —
Mark Sappenfield, editor of The Christian Science Monitor, has said: “Done correctly, journalism can be an agent of healing and hope because it is not about arguing over facts and events but getting to the basic issues that matter so greatly to us all. It is about taking account of lasting values and spiritual qualities that animate everyone and make for human progress.”
Everyone! All mankind share the same spiritual qualities and lasting values. These readings explore the spiritual quality of goodness, or righteousness as the Bible describes it. In the weeks to come the readings will explore more spiritual qualities shared by all mankind.

The spiritual quality of goodness

The Christian Science Monitor welcomed a new Editor in May. In his first interview as Editor, Mark Sappenfield said this about the role of journalism:

“Done correctly, journalism can be an agent of healing and hope because it is not about arguing over facts and events but getting to the basic issues that matter so greatly to us all. It is about taking account of lasting values and spiritual qualities that animate everyone and make for human progress.”

Everyone! All mankind shares lasting values and spiritual spiritual qualities.
