Do you know the woman in the Bible depicted this painting by Marc Chagall?

Women’s History Month is being featured and discussed in the Christian Science Sunday School at Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist – Chicago this month.  In the Sunday School room you’ll find a display and quiz about Women in the Bible along with an opportunity to name the  women in history who have inspired you.  Everyone is invited to drop by and test your knowledge!

This month, you’ll also find an audio online chat on time4thinkers.com about a pioneering woman, Mary Baker Eddy, who founded this church.  This chat isn’t Mary Baker Eddy at arm’s length—it’s a personal, intimate look at the Mary who was more than just a media mogul, or even a radical spiritual pioneer. You’ll meet the woman whose struggles and triumphs have inspired, guided, and in many ways changed the course of the speakers’ lives. Tune in anytime to listen to examples that will encourage you on your own path.

“‘Tis the season to be RADICAL,” so says time4thinkers.com!

The Radical Acts project is an ecumenical online community that’s following Jesus’ toughest teachings today.  This month they are suggesting a radical approach to holiday giving …  “Skip the shopping, ditch the trinkets, shrink your carbon footprint, and take an entirely spiritual approach to gift giving. It’s free too, so you can save $ for something more important — like a gift to your favorite charity.”

Radical Acts/The Game is a community activity to give away and play yourself throughout the holidays and beyond.  CHECK IT OUT.  Anyone interested in Christ Jesus or living a life that makes a difference to others — regardless of denomination or church affiliation — can enjoy it. Age is irrelevant. The Game is for youth and youthful thinkers.  There’s a personalized colorful e-card you can send it to every spiritual seeker on your Christmas list.

The Game is fun. It’s spiritually challenging. It draws us closer to friends and family. And there’s no competition involved. In this game, everyone wins!

Membership Project in Sunday School

This winter the Sunday School is considering the topic of membership – especially church membership.  Why join?  Why unite with any worthy cause?

Members at Seventeenth Church are providing some thoughts about membership – why they chose to unite with this church and/or The Mother Church – The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, MA.
